Scything day and Summer management

While we are waiting for the planning application to go to committee L &Q Estates are being open and helpful to community management of the Meadows. In October 22 we held a community scything event. This was a historic day as it was the first management activity on the meadows for 25 years. In May we organised a litter pick and cleared old tents and other debris that detracted from the Meadows. We are in discussions with L & Q Estates about more summer management events in 2023 to encourage locals to get involved and enhance our precious wildlife haven. Gavray Community Meadows Ltd.

In February 2023 we registered Gavray Community Meadows Ltd as a new community company at Companies House. As the company has charitable objectives we are currently awaiting registration with the Charity Commission. The object of the company is clear and simple, "the protection, conservation, and improvement of the biodiversity in the Area of Benefit.”. Full membership is free an open to anyone over the age of 18 living in the electoral wards of Bicester North, Bicester East, Bicester South, Bicester West, and Launton and Otmoor. We wil be encouraging youth membership too.
